Effect of Fluridone on Plant Development, Leaf Anatomy and Plastid Ultrastructure of Barley Plants
نویسنده
چکیده
The effect of fluridone on leaf anatomy and plastid ultrastructure was studied in barley plants grown under light and dark conditions. The appearance of defective mesophyll cells and chloroplasts with a destroyed thylakoid membrane system was found in fluridone-treated plants grown at a photosynthetic photon flux (PPF) of 600 μmol.m–2.s–1. Treatment of barley plants with fluridone in the absence of light led to alterations in leaf anatomy and to ultrastructural disorders.

Plastid transcription activity and DNA copy number increase early in barley chloroplast development.
Plastid transcription activity and DNA copy number were quantified during chloroplast development in the first foliage leaf in dark-grown and illuminated barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) seedlings. Primary foliage leaves of seedlings given continuous illumination from 2 days post-imbibition reached a final mean length of 15 centimeters at 6.5 days, whereas primary leaves of dark-grown seedlings requ...

The present study reports a factorial greenhouse experiment usinga randomized completeblock design in 2014 which investigated the effects of salt-pretreatedGlomus fasciculatumfungus, salinity, and the interaction effect of these variables on thephysiological properties ofbarley. The first factor was mycorrhizasalinity pretreated with different levels of salt (0, 25, 50and100mM) and the second f...
متن کاملABA biosynthesis and degradation contributing to ABA homeostasis during barley seed development under control and terminal drought-stress conditions.
Drought is one of the most severe environmental stress factors limiting crop yield especially when occurring during anthesis and seed filling. This terminal drought is characterized by an excess production of the phytohormone abscisic acid (ABA) which plays an important role during seed development and dormancy. All the genes putatively involved in ABA biosynthesis and inactivation in barley we...
متن کاملGene Regulation in Developing Chloroplasts Disentangled
Distant cousins of photosynthetic bacteria reside in plant cells where, as organelles called plastids, they give color to fruit and flowers, make starch in roots, and carry out photosynthesis in leaves. Plastids acquire these tissue-specific functions during plant development by undergoing programed differentiation from totipotent proplastids of meristematic tissues. Plastid differentiation inv...
